Mounts. Everyone wants one, and once they get one, they want it to be faster! There are a variety of mounts available to your characters in World of Warcraft, but, like every item, they come with a price. Here, you'll find a brief summary about the types of mounts available, what it'll cost you to get them, and how long you have to wait before you're riding atop your cool new form of transportation.

Section I - Huzzah, No More Walking!

At level 40, every character in World of Warcraft is capable of acquiring his very first mount. Most people will have to come up with some cold hard cash to get their first mount, which can seem like a pain when you're not level 70 and able to farm just about anything you want. Still, your first mount is definitely worth the cost!

Without any discounts at all, your first mount will cost you 10 gold. Training to ride your first mount will cost you 90 gold. However, most of you have gained reputation with your home faction through the many quests it took to reach level 40, so you'll likely be Honored which will save you some pennies. Here's a summary of the discounts (which also have an affect on everything else you buy from vendors of that particular faction).

• 5% Friendly faction discount.
• 10% Honored faction discount.
• 15% Revered faction discount.
• 20% Exalted faction discount.

At 10% off, your total mount cost will come to 90 gold instead of 100, which doesn't seem like such a big difference on paper, but in Azeroth it can mean a day or two of farming! So make sure you do all those faction quests early-on, you'll appreciate it later!

Section II - Where To Get 'Em

You worked hard, reached level 40, saved up your money, and now you have no idea where to get that mount you're wanting so badly, or even what kind of mount it is! Luckily, the development team at Blizzard thought of that, and put all of your trainers and mount vendors close to home.

Alliance	Horde
Humans can purchase a horse at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Randal Hunter, Elwynn Forest, Eastvale Logging Camp	Blood Elves can purchase a hawkstrider at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Perascamin, Eversong Woods, Thuron's Livery
Dwarves can purchase a ram at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Ultham Ironhorn, Dun Morogh, Amberstill Ranch	Trolls can purchase a raptor at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Xar'Ti, Durotar, Sen'Jin Village
Gnomes can purchase a mechanostrider at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Binjy Featherwhistle, Dun Morogh, Steelgrill's Depot	Orcs can purchase a wolf at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Kildar, Orgrimmar, Valley of Strength
Night Elves can purchase a night saber at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Jartsam, Darnassus, Cenarion Enclave	Undead can purchase an skeletal horse at level 40 for their riding mount. Trainer & Location Velma Warnam, Tirisfal Glades, Brill

Section III - You Mean I Get a Free Mount?!

There are two classes in World of Warcraft that can acquire mounts at level 40 and 60 without having to purchase them: the Warlock and the Paladin. These class mounts are for both Horde and Alliance. The level 60 epic mounts for both Horde and Alliance have quests that are required before you can obtain them. As of patch 1.21.1, all you need to do as a level 40 Warlock or Paladin is go to your trainer for the skill to summon your new mount.
